To the Campus Community:

During a special meeting on Thursday, May 3, the Rutgers Board of Trustees overwhelmingly approved a resolution reaffirming Rutgers–Camden's place as a crucial part of Rutgers University, and opposing the severance of the campus from Rutgers.

The resolution also clearly states the board’s openness to exploring alternatives that allow Rutgers–Camden to remain part of the University.

This strong support for Rutgers–Camden on the part of the Board of Trustees is gratifying, and reflects a wide recognition of the value that our campus brings to both the region and the entire University, a sentiment increasingly articulated by legislators and community leaders alike across southern New Jersey.

Creating new opportunities for higher education in southern New Jersey is a critical priority for our region, as is the advancement of Rutgers–Camden.  I look forward to working with all of you – our faculty, students, alumni, staff, families, and friends – to continue the positive track of this important public discussion.
