Rutgers to Host State's Largest Career Fair Jan. 5

The New Jersey Collegiate Career Fair is free and open to the public

WHAT: Collegiate Career Fair at Rutgers University

WHO: More than 150 employers

WHEN: Thursday, Jan. 5, 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

WHERE: Rutgers Student Center, 126 College Avenue and Brower Commons, 145 College Avenue, New Brunswick

BACKGROUND: The employment outlook for college graduates and students seeking internships is improving. A recent report from the Collegiate Employment Research Institute projects that employers will hire 7 percent more bachelor’s graduates in 2012 than 2011. In addition, the U.S. Department of Labor Statistics reports that the unemployment rate for bachelor’s graduates ages 20 to 24 has fallen from 8.3 percent in Sept. 2010 to 6.2 percent in Nov. 2011.

 

More than 150 employers from the public and private sectors representing a wide range of industries will greet job seekers during New Jersey Collegiate Career Day, sponsored by Rutgers Career Services. Organizers anticipate more than 3,000 entry-level and experienced job candidates will attend.

Parking for job candidates will be available at the Rutgers Athletic Center on the Livingston Campus at 83 Rockafeller Road in Piscataway. Free shuttle buses will run continuously between the parking areas and the career fair between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Job seekers are encouraged to wear business attire and to bring copies of their resumes for employers.
