About the Event:
The free film making class is being offered in preparation for the Cell Phone Cinema Contest: Imaging Women…Resilience. Cell phones have become powerful tools for storytellers and Women in Media-Newark is looking to inspire youth use cell phones to create 3 – 5 minute movies that tell the passionate stories that highlight the indomitable spirit of women. By the end of the class students will have developed an overview of their film, and will have shot at least 45 seconds of video with their cell phones. Students accepted into the class must have a cell phone that shoots video images.
This offering is a collaboration between Women In Media – Newark, Rutgers University‒Newark’s Program for Community - University Partnerships and, Rutgers University‒New Brunswick’s Center for African Studies, with sponsorship from Rutgers University‒New Brunswick’s Center for Global Advancement and International Affairs (GAIA).
