BACKGROUND:

Robotic insect

A
“robotic insect” that flies into tight spaces for search-and-rescue operations.
A truck convoy that requires a driver in only the lead truck and an aircraft
shape that blends wings into the fuselage for higher efficiency and a lightweight
carbon fiber drive shaft for high-performance race cars. These are some of the engineering
solutions to everyday needs or technical challenges designed by Rutgers mechanical
and aerospace engineering students.

The 184 students completed the 37 projects during a yearlong design
course for graduating seniors. The program challenges students to use technical
knowledge acquired during their undergraduate years and to demonstrate
teamwork, creative thinking, attention to detail and project management skills.
