Rutgers-Camden Concert Series Continues with Madrigal Ensemble, Holiday Choir Festival

CAMDEN — The Mallery Concert Series at Rutgers–Camden continues this month with a pair of free performances on campus.

The Rutgers–Camden Madrigal Ensemble will perform under the direction of Julianne Baird, a world-renowned recording artist and distinguished professor of music at Rutgers–Camden on Tuesday, Dec. 6 at 12 p.m. in the Mallery Room. The Madrigal Ensemble is a group of undergraduate students, graduate students, and alumni who meet twice a week to sing and study music from the Baroque era.

To help ring in the holiday season, the Rutgers–Camden Choir will present its Holiday Choir Festival on Wednesday, Dec. 7 at 12:30 p.m. at the Walter K. Gordon Theater.  In addition to Rutgers–Camden singers, the festival will include the Temple University Singers, the Camden Creative and Performing Arts High School Concert Choir, and the Agnes Irwin School Girl's Choir.

About 130 singers will participate in the Holiday Choir Festival, which is being directed by Julia Zavadsky,a part-time lecturer at Rutgers–Camden. The concert program will include a wide variety of various genres from an early music to a holiday spirituals.

Both events will be held in the Fine Arts Complex, located on Third Street, between Cooper Street and the Benjamin Franklin Bridge on the Rutgers–Camden campus. The concerts are presented by the Rutgers–Camden Department of Fine Arts. For more information, call (856) 225-6176.
