Toulouse

Toulouse-Lautrec and the French Imprint
Voorhees Special Exhibition Gallery through February 18

The Jane Voorhees Zimmerli Art Museum is presenting a major exhibition of 130 French, Belgian, and Spanish posters, the largest exhibition to date dealing with French posters and their influence from the early 19th-century Romantic period to Art Nouveau.

The exhibition, which runs through February 18, features 15 works by Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, including his large 1891 poster for the Moulin Rouge, as well as the chief work of the other leading poster artists working in Paris. Toulouse-Lautrec and the French Imprint is derived primarily from the Zimmerli Art Museum\'s extensive holdings of posters, one of the largest in the United States. In addition, 46 rare works are on loan from the private Parisian collection of the descendants of Edmond Sagot, considered the most influential poster dealer of the period.
